I bought this book as a gift for an aspiring young chef. The book is beautifully designed and the stories and
photos allow this book to transcend the cookbook genre. Renee's menus are highly ambitious for the average home cook and
often require specialty ingredients that are expensive and difficult to come by so I would recommend the book for people
with some fairly extensive cooking experience (access to local seafood would also be an advantage.) The recipes might be
a bit challenging for someone with my rather basic skill level but I am confident that my sister will make good use of
them.

If you love seafood - PICK THIS BOOK UP! You will love it. This
whimsical book is packed full of delicious recipes, amazing stories and whimsical light all the way through. I'm a lover
of seafood - but I admit - don't cook with it enough. I love shrimp, crab legs, fresh fish, lobster - give it all to me
- but I don't really have the confidence to actually COOK with it. This book - may very well change that. Some of my
favorite recipes include her "Boat Street Cream Scones" (page 20 - delicious with blackberry jam - my
favorite), "Molasses Spice Cake" (page 36 and includes dry mustard and black pepper in the batter -
delicious), "Potato Leek Soup" (page 41), "Pickled Mussel Toasts" (page 45), "Seared
Scallops" (page 76), "Grilled Oysters" (page 89), "Raw Spot Prawns" (page 109), "Chilled
Melon Soup" (page 139), "Boiled Crab" (page 141), "Grilled Mackerel" (page 145),
"Preserved Lemons" (page 211) and "Roasted Marrow Bones" (page 253). The book is filled with
delicious recipes for seafood feasts, side dishes, dessert and MORE! And when I say MORE - I mean "more"! So
many wonderful recipes that I can't decide where to pick back up. I highly recommend this book for people who love
whimsical cookbooks with wonderful storylines and amazing recipes. I would also recommend it for people who love seafood
and learning about how food from sea to table is the best. Renee has done a fabulous job from start to finish. From
dinner - to dessert.
